About Me....

Hi, I’m Heidi the creator and owner of Divine Paws
Dogs have always been a part of my life. Nothing lights me up more than dog spotting anywhere, they never fail to put a big smile on my face!
I have always been passionate about alternative natural therapies with an understanding of our bodies ability to heal themselves.

My Why?

Divine Paws Holistic Therapies was created in honor of my beloved dog Jack, who sadly is no longer with me. Jack’s journey was challenging—rehomed three times due to behavioral issues and needing luxating patella surgery on both legs. I couldn't let him face an uncertain future, so I took on his care and began nursing him through recovery and rehabilitation. This journey marked the beginning of my exploration into holistic canine treatments.
As our bond strengthened, Jack began losing his hearing and sight. Initially, his ailments and behavioral issues made it difficult to even touch him. However, through gentle massage, we discovered a new way to connect. Jack’s behavior improved, his mobility increased, and, most importantly, I could finally touch my dog!

My mission....

to provide professional and therapeutic massage services tailored specifically for dogs, and educating people of the importance of incorporating a holistic approach in their lives enhancing their overall health and well-being.

What People Are Saying

Frequently Asked Questions

What is canine massage therapy?

Canine massage therapy involves using hands-on techniques to manipulate the muscles and soft tissues of dogs. It helps to relieve pain, reduce stress, improve circulation, and enhance overall well-being.

How can my dog benefit from massage therapy?

Massage therapy can provide numerous benefits for dogs, including:

● Pain relief from conditions such as arthritis or injuries

Improved mobility and flexibility

Reduced anxiety and stress

Enhanced immune function

Faster recovery from surgery or trauma

Improved circulation and lymphatic drainage

Is canine massage safe for all dogs?

Generally, canine massage is safe for most dogs. However, certain conditions may require special consideration or a veterinarian's approval. Always consult with a certified canine massage therapist and your veterinarian to ensure it’s appropriate for your dog’s specific health needs.

How often should my dog receive massage therapy?

The frequency of sessions depends on your dog’s individual needs, health conditions, and response to treatment. Typically, dogs with chronic conditions or recovering from injury may benefit from more frequent sessions, while others may only need occasional massages for maintenance and relaxation.

What can I expect during a massage session?

● During a session, the therapist will:

● Conduct an initial consultation to understand your dog's health history and specific needs.

● Observe your dog's posture and movement. Use various massage techniques tailored to your dog’s condition.

● Provide a comfortable and calming environment for your dog. Sessions usually last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your dog's tolerance and needs.

How do I prepare my dog for a massage session?

To prepare your dog for a massage session:

● Ensure they are calm and have had a chance to relieve themselves.

● Avoid feeding them a large meal right before the session.

● Provide a quiet and comfortable space where they feel safe.

● Inform the therapist of any specific concerns or behavioural traits your dog may have.

Will my dog feel pain during the massage?

Massage should not cause pain. A skilled therapist will use gentle techniques and adjust the pressure according to your dog’s comfort level. If your dog shows signs of discomfort, the therapist will modify the approach to ensure a positive experience.

Can I stay with my dog during the massage session?

Absolutely! Your presence can help your dog feel more comfortable and relaxed. Many therapists encourage owners to stay and observe the session to learn techniques that can be used at home.

How much does a canine massage session cost?

The cost of a session varies based on several factors. The length of the session, your location and how your dog reacts to treatment. On average, you can expect to pay between $60 to $150 per session. There are packages available which will give you savings on costs if regular visits are preferred.

How do I know if my dog needs a massage?

Signs that your dog might benefit from massage therapy include:

● Limping or stiffness

● Difficulty getting up or lying down

● Anxiety or stress-related behaviours

● Reduced activity or reluctance to play

● Post-surgical recovery

● Chronic conditions such as arthritis

Can I learn to massage my dog at home?

Yes, you can learn basic techniques to massage your dog at home. Many therapists offer training sessions or workshops for pet owners. However, for more complex issues, it's best to seek professional help.
